Fine and shandy

Just like with an exercise program, you should ease into summer Fridays. You wouldn't want to pull something slamming your laptop shut or hightailing it out of your spinny chair.

Enter the British shandy.

Part blond beer, part lemony soda, a shandy gradually recruits the weekend muscles and mindset, preparing both for more intense relaxation.

Beer-to-soda proportions and time of administration will vary person-to-person and week-to-week, but a shandy's alcoholic content is innocuous enough that you shouldn't have a problem knocking out those TPS reports before the whistle blows.

Lemon shandy

Makes 2

  • 1 lighter-styled beer (pilsner, lager, wheat, etc.)
  • 1 can of lemon soda (like San Pellegrino Limonata)

Split the beer across two frosty mugs. Top with the lemon soda and enjoy with obnoxiously loud "ahhs" between gulps.
