Mundane Morsel

Sometimes life is just daily

It's magic

by Megan Stocker in After Meals, Sweets, Recipes

Just because I don't buy squirty, shelf-stable products at the grocery store doesn't mean I don't have any fun.

I just mix my fun up at home.

Sorry Smucker's.

Homemade Magic Shell

Makes about a 1/2 cup

  • one 3.5 oz good quality chocolate bar in your favorite shade, broken into pieces
  • 3 Tbsp. coconut oil

In a microwave-safe dish or Pyrex beaker, combine the two ingredients. Microwave at 30-second intervals, stirring in between blasts, until chocolate is fully melted and glossy. This can also be done in a double boiler set-up.

Let the sauce cool slightly before pouring it over ice cream (and shaking on some colored sugar sprinkles). Best not to rest your spoon inside your bowl or the magic shell may cement it to the side or bottom.

Call the kids to watch the magic happen and enjoy their brief wonderment and worship of you.

Save leftovers in the fridge (or double the batch and decant it into a squeezy bottle!) and either zap for 20 seconds or run under warm water for a minute when you're ready for another round of magic.
