Morning glory

During an overnight training retreat in college, I watched my roommate set two Oatmeal Creme Pies on the table next to her bed. She polished off one before turning out her light. Come morning, she sprung to a 90 degree angle, and with nary a yawn nor an eye rub, unwrapped the crinkly cellophane, eating the second pie with both hands close to her mouth like a little mouse.

I'll never identify with those who need to eat immediately upon waking (especially the one who climbs into my bed at 6:30 every morning looking for food).

It seems an awful lot to ask of your body when there's monosyllabic grunting and shuffling around to be done.

Still, I do love a morning and while I owe my bushy tail to coffee, it's warm water with lemon before anything else.

Ayurvedic medicine considers it activating your innards. Little Debbie considers it poppycock.
