Of all my belongings, this trinket box is among my most treasured.

It's not an antique.

It didn't cost more than $10.

It doesn't hold diamonds or pearls.

It was a gift from a small someone who positively knew that this was my favorite color and flavor: the exact macaron that I would choose from here or ici.

I like to click it open and shut and open and shut and press its cool, smooth surface against my cheek.
